Linda Scott - Director of Congregational Care
Rev. Linda Scott (Pastor Linda) first joined Church of the Messiah with her late husband Howard Scott in the early 1980’s. In 1993 she was consecrated as a Diaconal Minister in the United Methodist. She served as the Chaplain for Hospice of Columbus until 1994. She received an M. Div degree from the Methodist Theological School and received her Elders orders in 1997. Pastor Linda has served churches in the West Ohio Conference since 1996 including the congregations of Haviland UMC, Latty UMC, Newark First UMC and Spring Valley UMC. She retired from full-time ministry in 2011.
As Congregational Care Coordinator Pastor Linda’s primary areas of responsibility include visitation, prayer ministry, senior ministry and health ministry. She assists the other pastors as needed in worship, study, funerals and weddings. Having been involved in Pastoral Care throughout her ministry, she finds sharing God’s love and caring with the Messiah congregation to be the most fulfilling part of her time at Messiah.
“I believe in the sacred worth of all people as seen through God’s eyes. To that end, and with God’s help, I try to minister to others using the example set by Christ; one of compassion, hope and caring. In my preaching, teaching, counseling and relationships at the Church of the Messiah my goal is to reflect the love of Christ through my obedience, joy and witness to those I’ve been blessed to serve.”
