Bethlehem on Broad Street Food Ministry

As we begin to prepare ourselves for the Advent and Christmas season, we think about ways to assist others. The Bethlehem on Broad Street Ministry will provide 1,250 food boxes to families in Franklin County. Church of the Messiah has committed to provide 225 boxes of food. The boxes will be distributed to the families on Saturday, December 10th down at Broad Street UMC. In order to meet this schedule, we will assemble our boxes beginning 9 AM on Saturday, December 2nd and deliver them to Broad Street UMC that same day.

The list of items that will be included in each box is shown below. Please note that there is to be NO GLASS among the items. Cans or plastic bottles should be used. Please purchase only items included on the list below! You can participate by providing a “complete” box of items (though we provide the actual boxes, you may bring a “complete” box), a partial box, or even donate cash. Food items should be delivered to the Church Lounge no later than Friday, December 2nd. You may donate cash by using offering envelopes found in the pew racks. For any questions, or to volunteer to help on either the 2nd (9:00am) or 9th, please call Wade Hicks at 614-273-5626 or send an e-mail to him at hickspack@aol.com.

Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you as a stranger and invite you in or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? The King will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me!”

Please help make someone’s Christmas more joyful and complete this year!
