Andy Burns

"But nothing, not even my life, is more important than my completing my mission. This is nothing other than the ministry I received from the Lord Jesus: to testify about the good news of God's grace." (Acts 20:24, CEB)

Rev. Andrew Burns (Pastor Andy) grew up in a household deeply committed to the United Methodist tradition. In June of 2010, Andy experienced a call to ministry and began his journey of ministry in the United Methodist Church. Andy received his Local Pastor's License from the West Ohio Conference in the summer of 2014. Previous to Church of the Messiah, Andy served as pastor of Alger First United Methodist Church. He currently attends the Methodist Theological School in Oho, studying for his Masters of Divinity.

At Church of the Messiah, Pastor Andy leads the Contemporary Worship Service in preaching and helps the congregation to create new places for new people. Pastor Andy also looks forward to creating a new worshiping community within Church of the Messiah.

Andy has a deep passion for proclaiming the good news of God's grace to all kinds of people in whatever form would be most effective. He is very interested in exploring new ways to be the church and make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world in the present day. Andy also LOVES to meet new people and form new relationships, so introduce yourself to him (if he hasn't already introduced himself to you) - he would love to get to know you!

Andy grew up in several locations around Ohio: Lima, Toledo, Hamilton, and Circleville. In May of 2015, Andy received a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a focus on trumpet and a minor in Communication Studies from Ohio Northern University, where he met his wife Lauren. The two got married in May of 2017. Prior to Westerville, they lived in Alger, OH (near Lima). In his free time, Andy enjoys playing and listening to all kinds of music - from symphonies to punk to jazz to death metal to show tunes - as well as reading.
